Zenask is a calm place to ask, answer, and talk. These rules keep it that way. By posting or commenting, you agree to follow them.
1. Be respectful
Disagree with ideas, never attack people. No insults, harassment, bullying, hate speech, or targeting someone because of who they are (race, religion, gender, sexuality, nationality, disability, or similar). No pile-ons: if you disagree, say it once, politely.
2. Post in the right place
Choose the community that fits your topic. Use a clear, specific title and add context in the body. Search first in case your question has already been answered. Off-topic posts may be moved or removed.
3. Share honest information
Answer based on what you actually know or have experienced. If you’re unsure, say so. Don’t present guesses as facts, and don’t spread misinformation. Credit your sources when you use them.
4. No medical, legal, or financial “advice”
Share general information and personal experience only. Posts about health, money, or law are not professional advice. Don’t tell anyone to start, stop, or change medication, or to make a specific investment. Encourage people to speak to a qualified professional.
5. No spam or self-promotion
No ads, referral or affiliate links, or repeated links to your own site, channel, or business. A relevant link inside a genuinely helpful answer is fine. If most of your posts point to your own content, they’ll be removed. Don’t post the same thing in multiple communities.
6. No illegal or harmful content
This includes confessions or bragging about crimes, instructions for causing harm, threats, content that sexualizes minors, and anything that encourages self-harm or violence. If you or someone you know is in danger, contact your local emergency services.
7. Protect privacy
Don’t share anyone’s personal information, including names, addresses, phone numbers, private messages, or photos taken without consent. This includes your own details in public posts. No doxxing, ever.
8. Keep content original and lawful
Write in your own words. Don’t copy and paste other people’s articles, books, or images, and don’t repost content you don’t have the right to share. Short quotes with credit and a link are fine.
9. No fake accounts or vote manipulation
One person, one account. Don’t use multiple accounts, buy or trade votes, or ask others to upvote your posts. Don’t use bots or automated posting.
10. Keep it adult-friendly and safe for work
No pornography or sexually explicit content, and no graphic violence or gore. Mild language is fine in context, but don’t use it to attack others.
11. No low-effort noise
Avoid meme-only posts, clickbait titles, one-word replies, and rage-bait. Posts should add something: a question, an experience, or useful information.
12. Report, don’t retaliate
If you see a post or comment that breaks the rules, use the Report button and let moderators handle it. Don’t argue with rule-breakers or take revenge.
What happens if rules are broken
Moderators may take any of these steps, depending on how serious the problem is:
- Remove the post or comment
- Send a warning
- Temporarily suspend the account
- Permanently ban the account
Serious violations, such as threats, illegal content, or harassment, may lead to an immediate ban and may be reported to the authorities.
Appeals
If you think a decision was a mistake, contact us at [your email] with a link to the post and a short explanation. We’ll review it fairly.
Community-specific rules
Some communities may add their own rules, shown on that community’s page. Those apply in addition to the rules above.
Changes to these rules
We may update these rules as Zenask grows. Significant changes will be announced in Ask Zenask.
Be kind. Be honest. Be useful.
